WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today regarding President Bush’s nomination of Samuel Bodman for Energy Secretary:

“I have known and worked with Samuel Bodman for several years and know that he is a man of intellect, integrity and creativity who will serve our nation well.  In his positions as Deputy Commerce Secretary and more recently as Deputy Treasury Secretary, he has worked in a bipartisan fashion to find common-sense solutions.

“In the days ahead, I look forward to working with Secretary Bodman on the critical issues that face this nation regarding energy, including energy independence, efficiency and security.  This is a very good cabinet appointment by President Bush and I compliment him on it.”
