In case you haven’t seen it already, we wanted to pass along Sen. Tom Coburn’s common-sense remarks on the need to include revenues in an agreement to prevent the fiscal cliff. And by “revenues,” he means “rates.”
From MSNBC’s “Moring Joe” today:
“Personally, I know we have to raise revenue. I don’t really care which way we do it. Actually, I would rather see the rates go up than do it [by capping deductions and closing loopholes] because it gives us a greater chance to reform the tax code and broaden the base in the future.”
Sen. Coburn has joined a growing number of Republicans who say they will agree to the idea of asking our nation’s wealthiest to pay their fair share.
And really, if Senator Coburn is ready to admit revenue has to be part of the solution and is ok with raising rates, how can any Republican justify their opposition now?
