RHODE ISLAND-BASED PRESS SECRETARY

Congressman David N. Cicilline, a member of the House Democratic Leadership, is seeking a Rhode Island-based press secretary to handle day-to-day press relations, draft talking points, and implement a comprehensive communications strategy. This position reports directly to the Congressman’s Capitol Hill-based communications director and the Rhode Island-based district director. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing messaging and implementing communications strategies across both traditional and digital media; writing speeches and talking points; responding to press inquiries; drafting press releases; writing and placing op-eds; overseeing and expanding the Member’s social media presence; creating and distributing e-newsletters; planning press conferences and roundtable discussions with the member; pitching reporters and bookers; and managing television and radio appearances.  

Candidates should demonstrate a strong political acumen; possess knowledge of the legislative and policy-making processes; work well under pressure; have a positive attitude; and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This is not an entry level position.
