WASHINGTON, DC - House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after meeting with President Obama and Democratic and Republican leaders from the House and Senate:
“Today's meeting is further evidence how focused President Obama and Congress are on taking more action to keep creating jobs. As the President noted in his speech yesterday, increasing lending to small businesses remains a top priority, since they are the engine of job creation in our economy. There are many other ideas on the table, and we will work quickly to build on the jobs created and saved by the Recovery Act.
“While we are encouraged by reports showing that the Recovery Act has kept Americans on the job and the economy is starting to turn around, we know more must be done. I hope Republicans will work with us on solutions that will create jobs, rather than recycling old ideas.”
