Majority Leader Hoyer Recognizes National Day of Prayer

WASHINGTON, DC - House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement recognizing today as the National Day of Prayer:

"Fifty-five years ago, President Harry Truman signed a bill proclaiming a National Day of Prayer, which we observe today.  This day is a day for people of all faiths - Christians, Jews, Muslims, and all others - to pray together for our nation.  Prayer has played an important role in our history, serving as a source of strength and hope to Americans since the first settlers arrived on these shores.  Today, on the National Day of Prayer, we pray for our nation to continue to be blessed with prosperity and security."
