“I am pleased to announce the promotion of two valued members of my staff, Katie Grant and Maureen Beach, as well as welcome Dan Reilly and Mariel Saez to the Majority Leader’s Office.  All are tireless workers whose experience and skills will be an asset to my office, House Democrats, and the media.”

Katie Grant has worked for Hoyer since January 2006, when he was Democratic Whip.  She moved to his campaign office for the 2006 election before joining the Majority Leader’s Office in 2007.  As Communications Director, Katie will serve as spokeswoman on the Floor schedule, economy, fiscal issues (tax, budget, appropriations), national security and foreign policy, education, politics, trade, and ethics.  Originally from Atlanta, she earned a B.S. in International Affairs from Georgia Tech and an M.A. in Political Science from American University.

Daniel Reilly joins Hoyer's staff from the Office of Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), where he served as Communications Director. Reilly will serve as spokesman on several issues, including health care, energy and the environment, housing, immigration, veterans, labor and election reform.  Previously, Reilly worked as a journalist, covering Congress for Politico and The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He also reported for the Trinidad Guardian in Trinidad and Tobago previously as a Fulbright Scholar. Reilly holds a B.A. from The University of Wisconsin and an M.A. from The George Washington University. Originally from Rochester, NY, Reilly lives in Washington, DC with his wife Meg.

Hoyer promoted Maureen Beach to Deputy Press Secretary, where she will manage his Maryland press and serve as spokeswoman on several national issues, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, agriculture, technology, and transportation.  For the past two years, Maureen has served as press assistant and researcher in the Majority Leader's office and previously worked for the House Committee on Appropriations. Maureen's political background also includes work on several campaigns and as an aide to the Majority Leader in the Colorado State Senate.  A Chicago native, she holds a bachelor's degree from Regis University in Denver, CO.

Mariel Saez joins Hoyer’s staff as Press Assistant and Researcher.  From Hoyer’s district in Leonardtown, MD, she graduated magna cum laude from St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a B.A. in Economics.  Mariel previously served as an intern in Hoyer’s office.
