Leader's Report
majorityleader.house.gov · (202) 225-3130

This week, House Democrats launched our “Make it in America” agenda, which will work to boost domestic manufacturing.  We already passed two bills as part of this agenda, including the U.S. Manufacturing Enhancement Act, which will support tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs in America.  This agenda will create incentives for investment in domestic manufacturing, strengthen manufacturing infrastructure and innovation, and help to level the playing field for American companies so they can successfully compete globally.  For generations we have seen our manufacturing sector as the key to a strong economy and a secure nation, and Democrats will make sure that it continues to be robust.  Next week, we will likely bring 3 additional “Make it in America” agenda bills to the Floor.
Also this week, President Obama signed an extension of unemployment benefits into law following House and Senate passage. The extension of these benefits – held up for months by Republicans – will help ensure that Americans will be able to continue to provide for their families and meet their financial obligations, which also helps the economy.  This is just another example of how Democrats are working for the middle class, while Republicans are fighting for their own political self-interest.
On Monday, we will mark the 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.  As the lead House sponsor of this bill, I am proud to honor the success we have made in committing our country to inclusion and equal opportunities for people with disabilities.

Sincerely yours,
Steny H. Hoyer
