Press Release ● *Hispanic Heritage Month
For Immediate Release:
September 29, 2011

As we take time during Hispanic Heritage Month to celebrate important contributions of the Latino community to our economy, House Democrats are highlighting Hispanic entrepreneurs across the country who are helping to drive our economic recovery:

William “Bill” G. Valenzuela, Owner and CEO of W.G. Valenzuela Drywall

William “Bill” Valenzuela founded the family-owned W.G. Valenzuela Drywall Company in 1979 in Tucson, Arizona, which has been recognized as one of top 500 Hispanic Businesses in the United States. His company offers a wide range of services, including metal framing, drywall and painting; and today, he employs more than 250 employees.

Bill has been recognized in his community for raising awareness of the sacrifices made by our service members. He is a member of the 162nd Fighter Wing Minuteman Committee, a group of local businessmen concerned about the future of the 162nd Fighter Wing of the Arizona Air National Guard, and he serves as Arizona State Chair Emeritus for the National Committee of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency that develops and promotes a culture in which employers support the military service of their employees. He is also known for his philanthropy, donating time and resources to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the television show Extreme Makeover Home Edition. The Tucson community honored Bill last year by awarding him the first Tucson Light: The William G. Valenzuela Legacy Award, which will be awarded in the future to other community members who exhibit his level of service and philanthropy.

House Democrats are committed to helping Bill and all Latino entrepreneurs and innovators succeed by focusing on our Make It In America plan - a plan to boost job creation by promoting an encouraging environment for businesses to innovate and make products here in the U.S. To learn more about how the Make It In America plan will help the Latino community, click here.
