WASHINGTON DC – Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement in recognition of Women’s History Month:

“This month marks Women’s History Month, an opportunity to remember and celebrate generations of women who have made indelible contributions to our nation. Across all areas of society, women have made a real and lasting impact, which serves as an inspiration to all those that follow.

“This is a also time for us to reflect on the sacrifices and tireless efforts of women as they struggled to achieve equal rights in the voting booth, in education, in the workplace, and in all other aspects of life that have been marked by sexism. Democrats are committed to upholding women’s rights—freeing them from worry that they will be discriminated against by health insurers, protecting their reproductive rights, and ensuring fairness in the workplace by closing the gender gap in wages. This month, let us recommit ourselves to protecting these accomplishments and continuing to make progress on behalf of generations to come.”
