WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the Obama Administration announced their decision to impose tariffs on Chinese solar imports:

"Today's decision by the President to impose tough tariffs on Chinese solar imports is just the latest step by the Obama Administration to get tough on foreign companies who don't play by the rules. I applaud his move, which will help American manufacturers compete here at home and overseas.

"Just as House Democrats have made tougher enforcement of trade rules a hallmark of our Make It In America jobs plan, this President has consistently taken a hard line in support of American exports by increasing enforcement of trade laws and imposing new tariffs to help ensure a level playing field. When our businesses can compete in a fair market, they not only succeed but thrive, expand, and create good jobs here at home."
