WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after Senate Republicans voted to block legislation that would correct the Supreme Court's decision in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby:

“I am very disappointed that Senate Republicans voted to block legislation to ensure that women can make their own health care decisions without interference from their employers.  No one ought to have to receive permission from her boss in order to have prescription medication covered by insurance.

“In the aftermath of last month’s Supreme Court’s decision in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby, Congress has a responsibility to restore affordable access to the full range of health care choices for women.  I will continue to stand up for this principle, and I urge Senate Republicans to work with Democrats to find a legislative fix that safeguards this right for all women in our country.”
