WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement after the Senate passed Wall Street Reform legislation:

“Last night, the Senate took a significant step on the road toward reforming Wall Street and protecting the middle class.  The Senate-passed bill is similar to the House bill in many respects, and I look forward to going to conference quickly and getting a final bill to the President for his signature soon.
“When the House passed our Wall Street Reform legislation, Republicans stood in lockstep against it, choosing to side with Wall Street over their constituents on Main Street.  I hope they reconsider their opposition to a bill that is needed to help protect our nation from the type of financial meltdown that led to the deepest recession since the Great Depression.”
