WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today as Senate Republicans delayed passage of an extension of unemployment insurance, even after a cloture vote passed earlier this afternoon:
“I am extremely disappointed that Senate Republicans continue to stand against middle class families who lost jobs through no fault of their own, even as they fight for tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.  The American people can have no doubt in their mind who is fighting for them.  When the Senate completes action tomorrow on extending unemployment insurance as expected, the House will move swiftly to pass it tomorrow and send it to the President for his signature.”
