WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after President Obama announced increased efforts to promote American exports:
“I applaud President Obama’s announcement of increased efforts to promote American exports, with a goal of doubling exports in the next five years. This focus on exports is especially necessary now because larger markets for American goods abroad translate into more jobs at home. By advocating for American companies overseas, expanding their access to credit, rigorously enforcing the international agreements that protect free markets, and creating an Export Promotion Cabinet to focus attention on trade issues, the Obama Administration is taking concrete steps to increase opportunities for American businesses and workers. As part of Democrats’ commitment to job creation, Congress looks forward to working with President Obama to implement his export promotion strategy.”
