WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the bipartisan passage of H.R. 1164, the Taylor Force Act:
“Today, the House overwhelmingly passed the Taylor Force Act, which would cut off assistance to the Palestinian Authority as long as it continues to reward convicted terrorists and their families for acts of violence.  Named for a young veteran of the U.S. Army and West Point graduate from Texas who was stabbed to death while visiting Israel as a tourist, this bipartisan legislation makes clear to Palestinian Authority leaders the cost of encouraging violent terrorism against Israelis and Americans.  If Palestinian Authority leaders are serious about wanting peace, they can begin by ceasing to incentivize violence and terror.  I hope the Senate will take up and pass this bill without delay.”
