WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the House resolution recognizing the vigilance and prompt response of the citizens and law enforcement agencies who helped prevent the attempted terrorist attack in Times Square this past weekend:
“Today the House unanimously passed a resolution honoring the citizens, first responders, and law enforcement officers who worked together to prevent a terrorist attack in New York City’s Time Square, and to arrest a suspect. Their actions demonstrate the swift response and coordination of resources that are necessary to foiling terrorism—principles that the Obama Administration and Democrats take with the utmost seriousness. Democrats have stepped up the fight against terrorism, including hunting down terrorists overseas and capturing and killing them where they live before they can hurt Americans at home.  We are obtaining intelligence information from the Times Square suspect, and there have been arrests in Pakistan that will make our nation safer.  America remains under the threat of terrorism—which is why Democrats remain committed to using all resources at hand to disrupt terrorist networks, investigate and prevent planned attacks, and bring terrorists to justice.”
