WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement tonight after the House voted to send the final piece of health care reform to the President:
“Today, the House took the final step in adopting comprehensive health insurance reform, sending to the President a package of improvements to the underlying reform bill enacted into law earlier this week.
“The fixes in this bill will make prescription drugs for seniors less expensive, health care for middle-class families more affordable, and provisions to combat waste, fraud and abuse stronger. It also removes the special Medicaid deals for states in the Senate bill, and ensures that insurance denials of people with pre-existing conditions applies to all Americans.
“For far too long, Americans have struggled under the weight of rising health care costs and the insecurity of insurance that comes and goes depending on your employment or financial situation. With action on health insurance reform now complete, we are on our way to a healthier and stronger America, where all Americans will have the security of access to quality, affordable health care for them and their families.”
