WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after a federal judge temporarily blocked the Trump Administration’s efforts to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program:

“While this injunction is important for recognizing the very serious harm posed by ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, it is only a temporary reprieve. It does not change the fact that Congress must act without delay to provide assurance to DREAMers and their families that they can remain here in this country. The uncertainty of legal action is no better than the uncertainty of Congressional inaction. I will continue to push for the rapid adoption of legislation that brings peace of mind to those who were brought here as children and know no other home than the United States.”
