WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the Food and Drug Administration announced a series of actions to reduce underage vaping and smoking:

"I appreciate the steps being taken by the Food and Drug Administration to protect young Americans from the harms of vaping with today's announced rule banning the sale of flavored vape liquids.  With e-cigarette use skyrocketing among high schoolers and even middle-school students, it is critical that we take action as a country to prevent millions of young people from becoming addicted to nicotine and tobacco products.  Health experts have warned that vaping is a leading gateway to smoking, and I applaud today's decision by the FDA that will help keep children from developing smoking habits that can lead to cancer and other serious diseases."
