WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement on yesterday's earthquake in Haiti:
“America’s thoughts are with the people of Haiti as they struggle to recover from yesterday’s devastating earthquake. The loss of life and destruction of property are severe, and the work of caring for the injured, sheltering the displaced, and rebuilding will no doubt be painful and long. But as President Obama and Secretary Clinton have made clear, our country is ready to commit humanitarian aid, and civilian and military disaster relief, to the recovery effort. Working with the international community and with non-governmental organizations, the United States will stand by the Haitian people in their time of need.”
