WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the Obama Administration announced that it is launching a competition to create three new manufacturing innovation institutes:
“With the manufacturing sector’s strong potential to lead job growth for our economy, the Obama Administration’s announcement today of a competition to fund three more manufacturing innovation institutes is an important step toward greater competitiveness and the creation of high-skill, high-wage jobs for our middle class. I am glad that the President continues to make manufacturing and innovation a top priority.
“Establishing these institutes helps achieve the goals of House Democrats’ Make It In America jobs plan, which aims to encourage the growth of manufacturing and innovation here at home, and I hope Democrats and Republicans in Congress can work together to invest in growing the national manufacturing innovation network, as the President proposed in his 2014 budget, and to enact Make It In America legislation.”
