WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today following a meeting with ICE Acting Director Thomas D. Homan:

"During our meeting with Director Holman, I raised the important point that ICE must be in close communication with Members of Congress, particularly Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, who are worried about the impact of immigration raids in their districts.  Families are deeply worried about being split apart, and many communities have experienced a great deal of fear as a result.  ICE must be transparent with regard to their activities, and I will continue to work with Members of our Caucus to hold this Administration accountable.  As a nation, we must ensure that due process is always followed and that individuals' rights under the law are protected."
