On TrumpCare

"...The changes that Senator McConnell has made still put at substantial risk millions of people in terms of their health care coverage… It puts at risk pre-existing conditions being covered. It puts at risk lifetime and annual limits may be reinstated. And as Kasie [Hunt] pointed out, this Cruz/Lee alternative is going to lead to people who have any kind of an illness to only have very high cost alternatives available to them."

"...It will not get to 51 votes that it needs, and therefore Senator McConnell will have to either go back to the drawing board, or do what he said he would do, or threatened to do, depending upon how you look at it, and that is work with Democrats in improving or making the ACA work better. We, Democrats, have said all along that we're prepared to work with our Republican colleagues to shore up those areas where it is not working as well – making sure there are alternative insurance available in various counties around this country that are now without one. Obviously, we are prepared to work together with the Republicans. In the event, next week, if Senator McConnell can't get the Republican votes to proceed, I hope he does what he said he will do, and that is work with us to make the [Affordable Care Act] better."

On Donald Trump, Jr.’s Meeting with a Russian Lawyer

"I don't think most people would have taken that meeting.… I don’t know if it was criminal or not, but clearly there was working between the Trump folks in the campaign and the Russians, and it was stated clearly trying to help Trump be elected President of the United States. That is wrong, should not have been done."
