WASHINGTON, DC - House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after House and Senate negotiators reached an agreement on a budget plan for fiscal year 2008:

"Democrats have crafted a fiscally responsible budget that prioritizes the issues that are important to middle-class families and reflects our nation's values.  It will put our nation back in the black, after years of Republican red ink.
"Our budget does not raise taxes, while investing in the education, health care and energy programs that will ensure a prosperous and secure future for our children.
"Finally, it will enable our country to fight the war on terror stronger and smarter.
"I am very proud of the FY 2008 Budget that Democrats will bring to the House Floor tomorrow."
