WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today marking the 100th day since President Obama enacted the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act:

“Today marks the 100th day since the enactment of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, a sweeping economic package designed to turn our economy around—a process that is just beginning. Congress and the Obama Administration crafted it to grow the economy in both the short and long-terms with tax cuts for 95% of Americans, strategic investments in infrastructure and new energy, transportation, and healthcare technologies, and direct help for those families hit hardest by this recession.
“After just 100 days, the effects of the Recovery Act are already being felt. It has saved or created 150,000 jobs so far, put Americans to work at more than 3,600 construction projects, funded important technology from high-speed rail to plug-in hybrids, and much more. Our economy still has a long way to go before its recovery is complete—but we have made significant progress, and the Recovery Act is a key reason.”
