Earlier this year, Democrats unanimously opposed the Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations bill because it under-funded important programs - including funding Leave No Child Left Behind, the landmark education bill, $8 billion below the level called for in the bipartisan bill.

Republicans will soon bring to the floor a conference report that continues to under-fund these important priorities. And instead of restoring much needed resources for these programs, Republicans appear ready to divert funds, shortchange national priorities, and include $1 billion in various types of earmarks solely for Republican districts. Democrats are going to fight hard against this action which shortchanges America's children.
