GOP Ready To End Obamacare Tantrum?

Last week, Republicans decided to shut down the government and threatened default on our nation’s financial obligations all over their obsession with delaying or defunding the Affordable Care Act. Now some Republicans are seeing the error of their ways:

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ): “We started this on a fool’s errand, convincing so many millions of Americans and our supporters that we could defund Obamacare. [That] obviously wouldn’t happen until we had 67 Republican senators to override a presidential veto. … [It was] the people that convinced so many millions of Americans, tea partiers specifically we’re talking about, that there was some way to defund Obamacare. We can’t.” [POLITICO, 10/10/13]

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT): “I’d like to get rid of Obamacare, no question about that, but I think that effort has failed. And we’re going to have to take it on in other ways.” [POLITICO, 10/9/13]

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC): “We took an unpopular law and chose a more unpopular tactic to deal with the law. … Why don’t we focus on entitlement reform, Tax Code reform, regarding the debt ceiling and continue to fight on Obamacare [separately], because there’s not a consensus there.” [POLITICO, 10/9/13]

Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-GA): “We already had [the Obamacare] debate and we lost that debate.” [POLITICO, 10/9/13]

Since they’ve failed (for the 40-somethingth time) to undermine the Affordable Care Act, are Republicans ready to end their tantrum and reopen the government?
