On Tuesday, President Obama addressed the nation with his State of the Union speech. He outlined his Blueprint for an America Built to Last, a plan to revitalize the economy and restore the American dream by focusing on American values, American manufacturing, American energy and skills for American workers. This blueprint overlaps with House Democrats’ Make It In America plan, a plan to create jobs and ensure middle class families can succeed by cultivating an encouraging environment for businesses to innovate and make products here in the U.S. The President also discussed his commitment to restoring fiscal responsibility. I share that goal, and House Democrats are focused on a big, bold, balanced plan to reduce the deficit, create jobs, strengthen entitlements, and ensure all Americans pay their fair share.

President Obama also called on Congress to find common ground and work together to put more Americans back to work, restore fiscal balance and strengthen the middle class. I hope Republicans will abandon their political games, and join us over the coming year to address our most pressing challenges.

Sincerely yours,
