Whip's Report E-Newsletter
For Immediate Release:
March 9, 2012

This week, the House passed the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act, a package of bipartisan bills that will help small businesses. We also passed a bill to ensure the Commerce Department can continue to fight unfair subsidies that hurt U.S. manufacturers and workers, which is part of Democrats’ Make It In America jobs plan. I’m pleased that Democrats and Republicans could come together this week to pass these bills, and I continue to urge House Republicans to put forward a comprehensive jobs plan.

Democrats are committed to working with Republicans on additional legislation to help grow our economy and are focused on our Make It In America plan, which includes bipartisan proposals that support job creation by cultivating an encouraging environment for businesses to innovate and make products here in the U.S. This week, I testified before the House Budget Committee and highlighted proposals in the Make It In America plan that we should include in our budget for fiscal year 2013 so that we can support job creation, grow our economy, and strengthen manufacturing. I hope in the coming weeks Republicans will put aside partisanship and work with Democrats on these proposals to help put more Americans back to work.

Sincerely yours,
