**Members are advised that the House is only expected to consider the Rule for H.R. 6429 today. The House will complete consideration of the bill tomorrow.
H.Res. 821 – Rule providing for consideration of H.R. 6429 – STEM Jobs Act (Rep. Smith (TX) – Judiciary) (One Hour of Debate). The Rules Committee has recommended a closed Rule that provides for 90 minutes of general debate equally divided between the Chair and Ranking Member of the Committee on Judiciary. The Rule allows one motion to recommit, with or without instructions and it also waives all points of order against the legislation. The Rule also provides for a manager’s amendment to be considered and adopted upon adoption of the Rule and allows for the House to consider any bill under suspension of the Rules through Thursday, December 6.
The Rules committee once again rejected a motion by Ms. Slaughter to consider the bill under an open Rule.
The GOP Leadership has announced the following schedule for Friday, November 30: The House will meet at 9:00 a.m. for legislative business. The House is expected to consider H.R. 6429 – STEM Jobs Act (Rep. Smith (TX) – Judiciary).
|The Daily Quote|
‘”Grover, I said, would be irrelevant in two years, and I say that he’s got another year-and-a-half to go,’ [Former Senator Alan] Simpson said of the Americans for Tax Reform leader on MSNBC’s ‘Andrea Mitchell Reports.’ ‘He will be irrelevant. This guy is a zealot, a zealot is one who having forgotten his purposes, redoubles his efforts. And he sees the crumbling of the great house of cards.’… Simpson added, ‘He is becoming irrelevant. You can see it in his eyes. He knows the game is up because good people, of good faith, have decided instead of being Republicans or Democrats, they’re Americans. Instead of being beholden to Grover Norquist and the AARP, they’re beholden to the United States of America. Those guys are going to take their lumps.’”- Politico, 11/28/12
