2.5 Million Reasons To Support the Health Reform Law

In case you missed it yesterday in all the back and forth over year-end business, we here in the Democratic Whip Press Shop wanted to highlight a critical number: 2.5 million.

That is the number of young people age 19-25 added to the health insurance rolls since the landmark health reform law went into effect, according to an administration analysis.

Thanks to a provision in the law that allows young adults to stay on their parents’ health insurance plan up until they turn age 26, 2.5 million more young people now have health care coverage.

Yet if Republicans got their way, they would repeal the law and return our country to a system where young adults are dropped from their parents’ plan on their 18th birthday or when they graduate from college.

This announcement should give the GOP 2.5 million reasons to rethink that plan.
