MESSAGE FROM THE MAJORITY LEADER

	Democrats are continuing our work to protect middle class Americans and hold Wall Street accountable. Last night, the Senate passed legislation that puts us one step closer to ensuring that we won’t have another financial meltdown like the one in 2008 that hurt so many American families. I look forward to working with the Senate to get a bill to the President’s desk quickly. Democrats are also taking action to strengthen our national security and protect Americans. In our continuing efforts to fight terrorism and make America safer, next week I will bring to the Floor the Defense Authorization Act, which increases counterterrorism efforts, boosts missile defense, strengthens nuclear nonproliferation, and supports America's military and their families. Next week, the House will also consider the Promoting Jobs and Preventing Outsourcing Act, which will have provisions that close tax loopholes, prevent outsourcing, create and save jobs, and provide tax relief to families. In addition, we will complete action on the COMPETES Act, jobs legislation that for the second consecutive week, Republicans blocked with a cynical, political gimmick.
