Following one minute speeches, the House is expected to recess until approximately 5:15 p.m. At that time, the House will reconvene and consider H.Res. 522. Any vote requested will be postponed until 6:30 p.m.

H.Res. 522 – Rule providing for consideration of H.R. 1173 - The Fiscal Responsibility and Retirement Security Act of 2011 (Rep. Boustany – Ways and Means) The Rules Committee has recommended a modified open Rule that provides for one hour of general debate with 40 minutes equally divided and controlled by the chair and ranking minority member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce and 20 minutes equally divided and controlled by the chair and ranking minority member of the Committee on Ways and Means. The Rule allows any amendment submitted and printed in the Congressional Record, no later than January 31, to be considered on the Floor. It allows pro forma amendments and provides that the bill shall be considered for amendment for a period not to exceed three hours. The Rule also provides one motion to recommit, with or without instructions.
The Rules committee rejected a motion by Mr. Polis to consider the bill under an open Rule, without a pre-printing requirement.
TOMORROW’S OUTLOOK The GOP Leadership has announced the following schedule for Wednesday, February 1: The House will meet at 12:00 p.m. for legislative business. The House is expected to consider bills listed for consideration under suspension of the Rules. The House is also expected to consider H.R. 1173 - The Fiscal Responsibility and Retirement Security Act of 2011 (Rep. Boustany – Ways and Means).
