H.Res. 200 – Rule providing for consideration of H.J.Res. 37 - Disapproving the order submitted by the Federal Communications Commission with respect to regulating the Internet and broadband industry practice (Rep. Walden – Energy and Commerce) (One Hour of Debate) The Rules committee has recommended a closed Rule, allowing for no amendments to the legislation. The Rule makes in order one motion to recommit, with instructions. The Rule provides for one hour of debate, equally divided between the Chairman and Ranking Member on the Committee of Energy and Commerce.
The Rules Committee voted down an amendment offered by Mr. Hastings (FL), which would have provided for an exemption stating that internet service providers would be barred from blocking or interfering with consumers’ ability to access lawful websites. The Rules committee also rejected an amendment which would have allowed H.J.Res. 37 to be considered under an open Rule.
