With the start of the baseball season this month, many Americans are once again focusing on a cherished national tradition.

When more products are made in America, there will be greater opportunity for our people to Make It In America. House Democrats’ Make It In America plan focuses on creating the best conditions for American businesses to manufacture their products, innovate, and create jobs right here in the U.S. President Obama has already signed ten Make It In America bills into law, many of which passed Congress with bipartisan support.  Leaders in business and labor alike support the Make It In America plan because it will set us on a solid path forward to a future of greater competitiveness, more jobs, and long-term economic success.

"'Made in America' has been – and still is, in many respects – a label envied throughout the world.  Our factories continue to produce quality products at affordable prices – products that make the world run.  We are still the world’s leading manufacturing nation..

"I join in mourning the passing of Baroness Margaret Thatcher and in celebrating her historic role as the first female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

"The BRAIN Initiative President Obama unveiled today is a significant step forward not only for advancing the growth of innovation in our economy but also for the millions who live with Alzheimer's, epilepsy, and other neurological conditions.

"As we mark the anniversary of Cesar Chavez's birth, I join in celebrating the legacy of a civil rights giant who raised the voices of millions who were not being heard. In his work at the helm of the United Farm Workers and throughout a life spent fighting injustice and discrimination facing Hispanics and many other Americans, Chavez set an example of true courage in the face of adversity. 

As the Supreme Court hears challenges to the constitutionality of California’s Proposition 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act this week, we must remember that our nation was founded on the principle that all people are not only created equal but deserve to be treated equally under the law.  Discrimination of any kind has no place in our nation.

“Once again, Republicans have passed a budget that places the burden of deficit reduction most heavily on the backs of the middle class and those most in need.
