January 9, 2017
As Republicans move forward with their efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act without offering a replacement, House Democrats will continue to highlight what is at stake for millions of Americans.

As the situation continues to unfold at the airport in Fort Lauderdale, my thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who were killed or injured in today’s shooting, as well as with those brave first responders who worked to save lives.

“This report is damning.  Our intelligence agencies have done their work and done it well.  There can be no refuting the hard facts: Russia hacked our election, seeking to undermine America’s democratic and electoral institutions.  Donald Trump has claimed that it could have been any of a number of nations or even a rogue individual who engaged in these cyberattacks.
January 6, 2017
The magnitude of Russian interference in our recent election demands an independent investigative commission, and today I am joining with more than 150 of my House colleagues in cosponsoring legislation to establish such a body.

I think there's a real danger that is occurring where Donald Trump is either not getting briefings because he thinks they're irrelevant and he knows more than the intelligence agencies, or he has the intelligence agency briefings and denies their findings… and undermines the confidence they have in themselves and undermines the confidence Americans have in our intelligence agencies.

Today’s Bureau of Labor Statistics monthly report shows an economy that continues to produce jobs at a steady clip, with seventy-five consecutive months of positive job growth alongside 144,000 new private sector jobs created in December.
January 6, 2017
The fact of the matter is, of course, the economic environment since President Obama took office has substantially improved, incredibly improved.
January 5, 2017
This new report ought to be alarming to all Americans.

I thank the gentleman for yielding, and I rise today to reiterate the strong, bipartisan support for our ally Israel in the United States Congress.
January 4, 2017
Before the vote on December 23, I had urged President Obama and Secretary Kerry to use the United States's veto power at the U.N. Security Council to defeat Resolution 2334.
January 3, 2017
Mr. Speaker, I’m deeply concerned by a number of controversial provisions included by the Majority in the rules they have proposed for the 115th Congress.
January 3, 2017
The budget resolution introduced today by Senate Republicans represents a brazenly cynical use of the federal budget process to advance the political aim of repealing the Affordable Care Act.
January 3, 2017
As the 115th Congress convenes today, Americans are deeply worried about the future and are looking to their Representatives to work together to craft responsible, just, and wise policies that heal the divisions of the recent election and renew faith in government to be a force for good in Americans’ lives.

Eliminating the independence of the Office of Congressional Ethics, as House Republicans proposed to do without notice or debate, would have been a dangerous and ill-conceived move.
January 3, 2017
I am deeply concerned by House Republicans’ decision in the dead of night to strip away the independence of the Office of Congressional Ethics.
January 2, 2017
Thank you very much, Leader. I appreciate your convening this call and including our leadership on there; the three committees are so relevant to what the Republicans are trying to do.
December 28, 2016
I was reassured to hear that Secretary Kerry today did not call for further action by the Security Council.
December 27, 2016
I urged the Administration to veto the recently passed U.N. Security Council resolution regarding Israel and settlements.
December 23, 2016
As a proud leader of the bipartisan coalition in Congress in support of our ally Israel, I am extremely disappointed by this action and today's vote.
December 22, 2016
This morning, I reached out to the President and urged him to veto the resolution that was expected to receive a vote today in the U.N. Security Council.
December 21, 2016
The legislation introduced yesterday by House Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Member Engel and Representative Connolly reflects a deep concern in Congress and among the American people that a foreign power acted to undermine our election and influence it in favor of a particular candidate.
December 19, 2016
The people of Berlin and all of Germany are in my thoughts and prayers tonight.
December 19, 2016
As you know, we treat House Delegates and the Resident Commissioner for almost all purposes the same as we treat all other Members.
