House GOP Budget

The House Republican budget is a political statement that includes the same policies already rejected by Americans. It again ends the Medicare guarantee by turning it into a voucher program, and it predicates its savings on a repeal of the Affordable Care Act that even Republicans know is not realistic.  It puts the burden of deficit reduction on those who can least afford it, while asking nothing from those at the top. It also relies on magic asterisks that hide trillions in unexplained savings. The American people deserve a realistic, honest budget that is serious about the fiscal challenges confronting our nation and that returns us to a path of fiscal discipline. The House Republican budget does not meet that test.
