Wanted to make sure you all saw the Make It In America bill on the House Floor tonight. H.R. 4041, the Export Promotion Reform Act, is bipartisan legislation introduced by Reps. Howard Berman and Don Manzullo. This bill would allow companies to increase exports of U.S. goods and services and add jobs for American workers.
Specifically, this bill would strengthen the interagency Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee (TPCC); increase coordination among federal export programs; require the government to gather input from more sources, including small and medium-sized businesses, when drafting strategic plans for federal trade promotion policies; and direct ambassadors to develop country-specific commercial diplomacy plans to increase U.S. exports. The Democrats' Make It In America plan includes proposals that strengthen manufacturing, support small businesses, and increase competitiveness so that American companies can grow and create jobs here in the US. Earlier today, President Barack Obama signed into law the Export-Import Bank Reauthorization Act, another bipartisan Make It In America bill that will enable the bank to expand its financing and contribute to further growth in exports and jobs.
