WASHINGTON, DC - House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after House Republicans chose to play games with the GIVE Act, a community service bill:

"It is extremely unfortunate that House Republicans -- who are bereft of any real agenda or policy ideas -- are left only to play procedural games with legislation, even legislation such as the GIVE Act, which passed out of the Education and Labor Committee on a unanimous 44-0 vote, and enjoys strong bipartisan and White House support.  Despite temporary delays caused by this Republican gamesmanship, we have every intention of moving forward with this legislation and will pass it as soon as possible.

"In lieu of having a real agenda, House Republicans have resorted to playing procedural games that only temporarily delay passage of important legislation."
