WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk announced that the U.S. is investigating China for its policies and practices affecting trade and investment in clean energy technologies in response to a petition filed by the United Steelworkers:
“I want to applaud the action taken by the Obama Administration today. This action demonstrates Democrats’ commitment to protecting American workers and creating jobs right here at home, even while Republicans vote to let companies send jobs overseas. Today’s action is a necessary step to ensure that American workers, manufacturers, and businesses in the clean energy sector are competing on a level playing field. We know that when competition is fair, American businesses will continue to be successful.”
