WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after House Republicans pulled their continuing resolution from the weekly legislative agenda:

“Once again, House Republicans are in disarray, unable to govern as a result of division and dysfunction.  Even when promising a continuation of their policy of sequester and another defunding of the Affordable Care Act – gifts to the extreme wing of their party – Republicans lacked sufficient support and were unable to bring their bill to the Floor.  Their my-way-or-the-highway strategy continues to fail because they are deeply divided and continue to balk at the prospect of working across the aisle to achieve results.  Democrats oppose continuing the irrational policy of sequester and believe Congress ought to put the well-being of our nation over partisan politics by working together to move America forward.”
