Hoyer Statement on Prime Minister Netanyahu's Announcement on Settlement Construction in the West Bank

WASHINGTON, DC - House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement on Prime Minister Netanyahu's announcement of Israeli plans to suspend new settlement construction in the West Bank:

 

"I applaud Prime Minister Netanyahu's announcement of Israeli plans to suspend new settlement construction in the West Bank. This settlement policy is a demonstration that Israel is serious about reaching peace--and I hope that it wil be reciprocated with similarly constructive steps from the Palestinian Authority. I join President Obama in continuing to urge both sides to return to the negotiating table, without preconditions, and to pursue the historic settlement that is crucial to lasting peace in the region."
