WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer released the following statement today after President Obama delivered a speech on the economy in Cleveland, Ohio:

“Today the President spoke about Democrats’ efforts to continue creating jobs and growing the economy.  His speech was a sharp contrast to the one given by Minority Leader Boehner in the same city not too long ago.  Where the President offered new ideas, Republicans offer nothing more than going back to the failed policies of the past.  Just this morning, Minority Leader Boehner argued for returning to the spending and tax policies of President Bush, which landed our nation in the deepest recession in a generation.  Americans have a real choice: going back to the exact same agenda that favors the wealthy over the middle class, or continuing to move our nation forward.”
