WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the announcement that General James L. Jones will step down as National Security Advisor:
“I want to thank General Jones for his service to his country as National Security Advisor. General Jones is a good friend who I have known and respected for years. The President made a wise choice selecting him as his first National Security Advisor, as he brought decades of national security experience to the job at a time when Democrats are focused on strengthening our security as we face threats from around the globe. General Jones’ years of military service and strong leadership skills make him a respected and trusted voice on national security issues, and I always value his insight. As I wish General Jones the best, I also look forward to working with Tom Donilon in his new role.”
