WASHINGTON, DC - House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today recognizing October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month:

“This month is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. We honor the contributions of the 54 million Americans with disabilities, and we pledge ourselves to removing all of the roadblocks to their full and equal participation in the workplace. We all benefit when Americans with disabilities are given the opportunity to make the most of their talents. That is why I was proud to sponsor the Americans With Disabilities Act, which helped to make our country a world leader on the key human rights challenge of integrating people with disabilities. For the same reason, I’m also proud that the ADA Amendments Act is now helping us to live up to the ADA’s inclusive intent. I hope we take time this month to reflect on the importance of equal opportunity and equal access for all Americans.”
