WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today in recognition of Labor Day, which is Monday, September 5th:

“On Labor Day, we celebrate hard-working men and women who have made our country the most productive and prosperous nation in the world. Let us honor American workers’ hard work, innovation, and determination, and also reflect on the struggles they face today. While our economy continues to recover, millions of Americans remain unemployed and are still feeling the effects of the recession.

“That is why Democrats are focused on our Make It In America plan – a plan to create jobs and restore economic growth by promoting an encouraging environment for businesses to innovate and make products here in the U.S. While Republicans have still not put forward a real, comprehensive jobs plan, Democrats are committed to revitalizing American industry and innovation and helping put more Americans back to work. I urge my colleagues to stand with America’s workers and support this plan to create well-paying, middle class jobs and help ensure more families can make it in America.”
