WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) today joined with House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Chair Congressman Mike Thompson and Democratic Leadership to introduce gun violence prevention proposals:

"I was pleased to stand with my colleagues today in support of common-sense, comprehensive policy recommendations that will help reduce gun violence while respecting the Constitutional rights of responsible gun-owners. I applaud Rep. Mike Thompson for his leadership of House Democrats' task force on this critical issue.

"As Vice President Biden stated last night, enough is enough. Congress must act responsibly to prevent tragedies like the ones we've seen in Connecticut, Oregon, and Colorado. These policy principles are consistent with the proposals laid out by President Obama and Vice President Biden, and they will help us improve the safety of our schools, neighborhoods, and communities.  I look forward to seeing these recommendations turned into legislation very soon."
