WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the DISCLOSE Act passed the House Administration Committee:

“I want to congratulate the House Administration Committee for passing the DISCLOSE Act this afternoon.  This legislation it critical to ensure that elections are transparent and accountable to the American people.  The Supreme Court decision on the Citizens United case opens the floodgates to corporate money, allowing the voices of individual Americans to be drowned out.  This legislation takes needed action so that Americans know which corporations are funding ads, and it prevents foreign companies from contributing to campaigns.  I look forward to working with Congressman Van Hollen, Senator Schumer, and the rest of House and Senate Leadership to move it to the House Floor and have it enacted into law.”
