WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today in response to a briefing packet sent to Members of the Republican Conference by Republican leadership:

“By distributing a briefing packet to their Members on how to convince Americans of the supposed merits of repealing of the Affordable Care Act, House Republican leaders are signaling dangerous uncertainty to insurers and health care consumers.  But such has been the dangerous approach of Republicans all along, from ending outreach during the open-enrollment period to doubling down on proposals that drive insurers from the marketplaces.  The uncertainty they are creating will cause premiums to go up and consumer choices to disappear.  Now in control of the White House and both the House and Senate, Republicans are fully responsible for what happens to our health care system, and the American people will hold them accountable if they lose benefits or coverage, or if their costs increase.”
