WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today following the revelation that President Bush may have been involved in the leaking of classified intelligence information:
“Today’s revelations about President Bush’s role in disclosing classified information about Iraq’s weapons program are extremely troubling. Classified information should never be leaked for political reasons or partisan gain, and this news requires further inquiry. I sincerely hope the Congress will finally take seriously its Constitutional duty to conduct oversight over vital matters to America’s national security and the safety of our people.”
